THE ENNEAGRAM OF PERSONALITY TYPES, ENNEAGRAM OF LIFE, COSMOSES AND OTHERS By Professor Dr. Tan Man-Ho (Chen Wanhe) (An excerpt from the original work, Real World Views, Book 22 by Professor Dr. Tan Man-Ho entitled, "The HEIGRENS Era of Sociotechnocosmic Development, The Future of the Organic Film on Mother Earth and the Special Mysteries of Concern," March 2002 ~ December 2009 Discourses, Chapter 4, Section A & C: "The Enneagram of Personality Types; Enneagram of Life, Cosmoses and Others," pp. 165~174, 187~190)
A. THE ENNEAGRAM OF PERSONALITY TYPES
1 Commentaries of the Enneagram of the Personality Types or Personality Fixate Enneagram: 1. In this type of Enneagram of Human Personalities (Oscar Ichazo & Claudio Naranjo) the triangle 3, 6 and 9 are not input points, and therefore, it cannot represent a living enneagram or what is known as an open system that is independent. However, personalities are inner crystallizations too and on the personality part of the human body which together occupies a major part of the Fourth Body of man. Much of this is the final product (personalities) of the digestion of impression foods mostly from the cosmic and astrological or earthly environmental natures, with the air and also the ordinary foods input as minor factors. 2. In this methodology, obvious and major personality types that is found in the personality component of a modern man ‘soaked’ in modern civilization, namely, 1) The Perfectionist, 2) The Giver, 3) The Performer, 4) The Romantic, 5) The Observer, 6) The Questioner 7) The Epicure, 8) The Boss and 9) The Mediator, are identified and well matched into the Enneagram Symbol in sincere hope that an oxymoron marriage did not happen to be. 3. Also because human personality fixation is part of the one objective Enneagram of Man that has already been developed by Gurdjieff and Ouspensky, as observed and pointed out that there is one Man-enneagram for one person in the real world, so human personalities are the crystallizations of the man-enneagram in the personalities of man instead of in the essence or at most 'personality-as-essence'. 4. As they are ‘components’ or 'partialities' of the bigger picture which is the objective man, the best way to represent them is to place or fixate them (these personalities) to the geometrical model of an enneagram on the octave points (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7) without the Holy Spirit (Trinity) but to consider points 8 and 9 as additional fixates or vortices of a 9-Point Geometrical Enneagram and from these "octave" points personality types are explained and described. 5. It will no longer be difficult to discover more and more personality crystallizations as time goes by because the triangle 3, 6 and 9 is inputting changing foods to create, nourish and maintain the ‘Nine Personality Crystallizations.’ It will not be difficult to discover the 10th, the 11th, the 12th, the 13th …….. personalities that cannot be placed in these nine-point vortices of a solely geometrical-based enneagram. 6. The Nine Personality Types is an expression of nine groups of psyche hydrogens as these groups function in certain fixed patterns that distinguish them from one another. This may be best fixated into a periodicity of personality types. By doing this we will have to limit the fixates into seven (7) fixate vortex points and will have problems finding the three (3) inputs, the 1st lateral octave at the MI-FA Interval, the 2nd lateral inner octave at the TI-DO Interval, the “SO-LA” Interval of inner connection of the 2 lateral octaves. Nay more, we will no longer know how to interpret the retardation at the intervals. This is because we have divided the complete objective phenoumenon into a group of noumenal partiality and then further divided it into a group of 9 noumenal personal partiality, whereas the real objective being is the complete and wholesome man for which we have missed. That is why, we can only wise-acred around with at best the important geometrical aspects of what is truly the real objective enneagram. The Enneagram of the Personality Fixates of Personality Types As a further clarification of the meaning of this 'enneagram of the personality fixates' to describe personality types as pure geometry approach, I will compare it with the 'pentagon of SMART objective' to describe SMART goals (objectives) as another example.
The Pentagon of the SMART Objective of goals 7. Buffers are present to separate the personalities from one another and separate them as different groups of personality ‘I’s with different and separate identities. Each personality type is trapped in the vortex of his personality whorl and might not see his possible other personality whorl in him except by the WORK of conscious labor and intentional suffering. However, each personality type can easily notice a personality type in others which is different from him. 8. The enneagram symbol used in this manner is the fixating usage without introducing the three inputs of the octave, without lateral octaves and without the Pythagorean Monochord Harmonic Scale. This way of using the enneagram is necessary when investigating partial systems that have inputs from some main systems and are purely geometrical mathematical exercises. 9. The complete anatomical and physiological biological human body with all the psychic centers or bodies intact, living and functioning belongs to essence, and the structure of four (4 Bodies), the law of seven and the law of three operate in wholesome - this would be the real objective man. 10. In this methodology of the enneagram usage such as with the personality types is an omission of the law of three. Both the two octaves of relation – inner octave (1, 4, 2, 8, 5 & 7) and the outer octave (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 & 9) do influence and change quantitatively (without much qualitative changes) on one another depending on the position correctly identified in the enneagram geometry. Geometrical enneagram is pure geometry and has to be very rich in links, influences, forms and variations as can be observed from the diagrams below:
11. As the phenoumenon in investigation is not the complete living picture of the wholesome man, but rather on the sub-system of human personalities the non-enneagrammic realities, or “disobediences” characteristics must the recognized. Just as the Octaves of Elements in Chemistry, where the elements are gradually discovered and fixed to the predetermined periodic table, so here the exclusive psychological hydrogens of human personalities will need to be investigated in similar manner. Nay more, here we are investigating miss quickly unlike the stable elements which are mostly solid matters. 12. As mentioned before, more and more personalities might be discovered either from the essence function or the 3 being-foods intake and defective function of center or from random combination of various personalities, so a sub-type system might have to be introduced in this interpretation to explain “disobedience”. The sub-type system is necessary to home the spin-offs and the uninvestigated human personality fragments that are derived mostly from the main personality types, and dissolving the boundaries to rebound them into a unionized and integrated whole. The process is fixing of the parts into the enneagram, and once unionized and fixed, the fixated enneagram of personality types (or fixated enneagram of the neoliberalistic parts, fixated enneagram of the LGBTQIA+ parts, fixated enneagram of the Color revolution color-parts, etc.) is done for our own deeper understanding of what these social phnoumena actually are. 13. The enneagram of the human personality types in relation to the objective man is always explained in relation to a “higher” or outside reference: a) Head, heart and belly which represent the original four bodies of man in the famous Gurdjieff Hackney Carriage. b) Holy Virtue and Idea which represents the upper “human personalities” relation in the driver body (head) or any link to the higher. c) Passion and Fixation which represents the “human personalities” relation in the horse and carriage bodies (head and belly) or any link to the lower. d) Unaware and Aware individuals who represent automatic and mechanical happening and of the personality and conscious issuing of the same. e) Stress and security which represents subjecting the personality fixates to pressure (stress) and removing the pressure (security) to identify changes and responses. f)
Ways to move into higher levels
especially on how to get out of the types and develop greater inner balance.
C. ENNEAGRAM OF LIFE, COSMOSES AND OTHERS
1
It is important to objectivize the enneagram
symbol through examples, making it concrete as it has been staying in our
abstract faculty for too long. Gurdjieff has objectivized it on the
Ray of Creation outside together with a Ray of Creation inside.
Ouspensky developed the enneagram example for a human being. So he has
objectivized it on our activities in ordinary life. Some objectivize
them for society, others for personality types. Real World Views have
objectivized it on society. Without finding real examples where octaves
trinities and enneagrams have to marry objects and subjects for their
concrete forms; the symbols always have to remain as pure symbols with
little practical values. It is like theoretical mechanisms without
engineering and inventions, and without practice. It is pure theory. 2
Hydrogens become the ‘I’s. The hydrogens of
mercy and conscience or the ‘Real I’ of
Kuanyin produced in the alchemical process
during one’s life, re-enters into the general psychological pool for the
maintenance and preservation of the system. While such hydrogens are
normally produced by beings with the physical shape of man, their presence
can be found also in beings of other physical shapes. The laws of genetics
govern physical “reincarnations” while psychological reincarnation occurs
both during one’s life (obvious) and then during death (not obvious) which
is subject to cosmic laws. The smaller enneagram applies for man and
the bigger enneagram applies for the cosmos. The teaching of
Kuanyin on
mercy and human conscience is the similar to the teaching of Ashiata
Shiemash of Gurdjieff. 3
The Process Of Body Dying And Species Dying: In the final
stages of dehydration the body shrinks, robbing youth from the young as the
skin puckers, eyes recede into orbits, and the tongue swells and cracks.
Brain cells shrivel and muscles seize. The kidneys shut down, blood volume
drops, triggering hypovolemic shock, with its attendant respiratory and
cardiac failures. These combined assaults disrupt the chemical and
electrical pathways of the body until all systems cascade toward death. Such is also the path of a dying species. Beyond a critical point, the collective body of a unique kind of mammal or bird or amphibian or tree cannot be salvaged, no matter the first aid rendered. Too few individuals spread too far apart, or too genetically weakened, are susceptible to even small natural disasters: a passing thunderstorm; an unexpected freeze; drought. At fewer than 50 members, populations experience increasingly random fluctuations until a kind of fatal arrhythmia takes hold. Eventually, an entire genetic legacy, born in the beginnings of life on earth, is removed from the future. The phenomenon of
‘Near Death Experience’ (NDE) in an individual is best described by E. F.
Kelly et al as follows: Frequently
recurring features include feelings of peace and joy; a sense of being out
of one’s body and watching events going on around one’s body and,
occasionally, at some distant physical location; a cessation of pain; seeing
a dark tunnel or void; seeing an unusually bright light, sometimes
experienced as a “Being of Light” that radiates love and may speak or
otherwise communicate with the person; encountering other beings, often
deceased persons whom the experiencer recognizes; experiencing a revival of
memories or even a full life review, sometimes accompanied by feelings of
judgment; seeing some “other realm,” often of great beauty; sensing a
barrier or border beyond which the person cannot go; and returning to the
body, often reluctantly. (E.F. Kelly et al., Irreducible Mind: Toward a Psychology for the 21st Century. New York: Rowman and Littlefield, 2007, p. 372) For the Oriental World this Bardo period is
certainly fully explored long ago.
